Pepper Lunch Celebrates the First-Ever World Pepper Rice Day

A Global Sizzle-Fest, 31 Years in the Making

On 3 July 2025, Pepper Lunch proudly celebrates the first-ever World Pepper Rice Day, a new annual global occasion dedicated to the dish that has become an icon of the brand: Pepper Rice. The date marks 31 years since Pepper Lunch began its journey in Japan in 1994.

What began in Japan has since travelled around the world. Today, 517 Pepper Lunch locations are coming together for the inaugural celebration, uniting guests, restaurant teams and franchise partners around one signature dish and one shared sizzling experience.

At the heart of the celebration is Beef Pepper Rice, where beef, rice, sweet corn and seasonings come together on Pepper Lunch's signature hot iron plate. Guests take part in the experience themselves, mixing and cooking their meal at the table, creating the distinctive sights, sounds and aromas that have become synonymous with Pepper Lunch. To mark the inaugural occasion, participating restaurants around the world are celebrating with special 1-for-1 Beef Pepper Rice offers, inviting fans to share the experience together.

The celebration will also bring the global Pepper Lunch community together for a Guinness World Records™ attempt. From 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM (GMT+8) on 3 July, guests are invited to upload a public photo of their Pepper Rice to Facebook with #WorldPepperRiceDay, contributing to an attempt for the most photos of hot plate Pepper Rice uploaded to Facebook in one hour.

But World Pepper Rice Day is about more than one promotion or one day. It was created to celebrate Pepper Rice's place at the heart of Pepper Lunch and to establish 3 July as an annual moment when Pepper Lunch communities around the world can come together and share the sizzle.
