Pepper Lunch Sets Guinness World Records™ with World Pepper Rice Day Celebration
Pepper Lunch made history on the inaugural World Pepper Rice Day, achieving a Guinness World Records™ title for the most photos of hot plate Pepper Rice uploaded to Facebook in one hour, bringing fans and Pepper Lunch communities around the world together in one sizzling global celebration.
A Global Celebration, A Record-Breaking Moment
On 3 July 2025, Pepper Lunch celebrated the first-ever World Pepper Rice Day, marking 31 years since the birth of its iconic Pepper Rice in Tokyo, Japan. What began as a celebration of Pepper Lunch's signature dish became a global moment shared by guests, teams and franchise partners around the world.
Across 17 countries, Pepper Lunch restaurants came together to celebrate the dish that has defined the brand for generations. The occasion brought guests together around the signature sizzling experience, turning one day into a shared expression of energy, community and love for Pepper Rice.
At the heart of the celebration was an ambitious Guinness World Records™ attempt. From 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM (GMT+8), guests were invited to photograph their Pepper Rice and share it publicly on Facebook with #WorldPepperRiceDay, creating a single global moment of participation.
The result was official: Pepper Lunch achieved the Guinness World Records™ title for the most photos of hot plate Pepper Rice uploaded to Facebook in one hour, with 518 valid entries recognized as part of the record.
More than a record, the achievement reflected what World Pepper Rice Day was created to celebrate: the people behind every sizzling plate. Customers, restaurant teams and partners across different markets came together around one iconic dish and one shared experience. Internal post-campaign materials highlighted the sense of customer pride and participation created by being part of a world-record achievement.
For Pepper Lunch, the milestone represents another chapter in a story that began in Japan in 1994, when Pepper Rice first started sizzling. World Pepper Rice Day has since been established as an annual global celebration on 3 July, bringing Pepper Lunch communities together around the brand's signature dish and sizzling dining experience.
